Vision

All transitions from military to civilian life are difficult. This is no less so for the alumni of the Shayetet who serve a longer tour of duty than required and partake in a combat-intense military service.

The Compass Program is designed to assist Shayetet alumni in the transition to civilian life. Its purpose is to establish the Shayetet alumni among Israel’s top leading civilians.

The Compass program begins when the Navy SEAL cadets begin their professional service in the Unit. It includes: Enrichment lectures; a workshop that prepares these young men for professional service; a four day pre-discharge seminar; a post-discharge one-year mentoring project; ongoing career guidance; scholarships; entrepreneurship project; and an annual event that brings the alumni and their mentors together for a day of enrichment and social networking.

Enrichment lectures

During their demanding active service, we provide Shayetet’s warriors Enrichment lectures on a variety of topics such as leadership, journalism, finance, social media implications, decision making and motivation.

The alumni are taught to confront issues of personal identity and life-purpose. The workshop strengthens the sense of personal development and self fulfilment in the Israeli society and helps provide mental “closure” to their demanding military service.

Compass Mentoring program

The Compass Mentoring Program is the central Compass program in which leading professionals and businessmen mentor the discharged alumni via one-on-one sessions. These sessions help assure the alumni excel in their civilian life and help them resolve hard questions and make good choices. The mentors and alumni meet on a weekly basis. The entire group (including its management) meets once a month. During the project the alumni participate in a leadership seminar, career seminar and a joint volunteer day.

According to our benchmarks over the years, our discharged alumni report a significant development in many life areas, including career, personal relationships, and maximization of human potential.

In addition to our work with Shayetet 13 alumni, we share our knowledge and experience with other IDF alumni associations.
