Our History and Our Future
The Atalef Foundation was founded in 1984 by Shayetet 13 veterans, as the official Israel Navy SEALs Association. The founding members decided to build upon the potential of Shayetet 13 commandos to serve as a force for change and positive development in Israel and throughout the Jewish Nation.
The Atalef Foundation serves as the umbrella organization for the broader Shayetet community – both in times of celebration and adversity. We focus on delivering a targeted set of services and programming for active service members, reservists and their families including personal empowerment, education, social services, communal involvement, health and wellness and Zionist hasbara.
Not since the founding of the State of Israel, has the Jewish nation faced as many threats and upheavals as we encounter today. Every year we continue to ask more of our Shayetet warriors and the time, resources and attention required to care for them and their families – both during and following their military service – only grows.
